The Palacio de Linares is located in the heart of Madrid, in the Plaza de Cibeles, on the best plot of land in the neighbourhood that the Marquis of Salamanca began to build between Paseo de Recoletos and Calle Alcalá. The Marquises of Linares built and decorated it with the best architects and craftsmen of the time, and during the brief period they inhabited it (between 1884 and 1902) it was one of the most sumptuous and impressive residences in Madrid. The quality of its marbles and mural paintings, as well as the richness of its fabrics and carpets, bronzes, lamps, mosaics and woodwork, constitute one of the best-preserved nineteenth-century architectural ensembles of the nineteenth century in Spain.

Casa de América is a public consortium formed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council that aims to strengthen ties between Spain and the American continent, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean. Through its activity, it seeks to disseminate the cultural, social, political and economic activity of Latin America in Madrid and to promote activities of reflection or thought on the Ibero-American space.
